Remote work legislation has undergone significant changes. What you need to update in employment contracts and internal regulations.
The new definition
Law 81/2018, as amended in 2025, clarifies: telework means work carried out outside the employer's premises using technology.
Employer obligations
- Amended contract or explicit addendum for telework arrangements
- Cost coverage: equipment, internet, utilities (fully or partially, negotiable)
- Risk assessment at the employee's chosen location
- Right to disconnect (EU Directive transposed)
